TAGS
Pick 3 Power tags and 2 Weakness tags. These define what you're good at and what trips you up.
Power Tags
Your abilities, passions, and unique traits. Use one to justify a +1 on a roll.
Examples: Telekinetic burst, knows every shortcut in town, obsessive knowledge of 1980s horror films.
Weakness Tags
Your problems, quirks, and vulnerabilities. When you choose to let one complicate the situation, you earn an Insight Token.
Examples: Easily distracted, can't let go, blurts out the wrong thing.
Insight Tokens
Earned by playing your Weakness tags honestly. Spend them on:
- Guarantee success on a roll — costs 3
- Activate your character's unique "Strong Move" — costs 2
- Help a teammate succeed on their roll — costs 1
(Example characters and tags are in the Appendix.)
DEFINE YOUR IDÉE FIXE
This is your character's single biggest obsession or hyper-fixation.
Once per scene, if you meaningfully engage with your obsession, you recover a bit of composure or clear a minor Status. The table decides if it counts. If people laugh, lean in, or build on it, it definitely counts.
WAYS TO ENGAGE IT:
- Explain it
- Compare something to it
- Use it to solve a problem
EXAMPLE: IDÉE FIXE IN PLAY
Paul is obsessed with Dune (1984). He's memorized entire scenes, even though he gets embarrassed when people tease him about it. While analyzing a political situation, Paul says, "This is just like the Atreides betrayal by Dr. Yueh!" His obsessive movie knowledge earns him a +1, and he spots a hidden betrayal coming. Later, someone mocks the movie. Paul gets flustered and blurts out an overly passionate defense that derails the conversation. Because he leaned into his flaw (can't let go), he earns an Insight Token. In a tense moment, Paul passionately explains why a misunderstood scene is actually brilliant. The table laughs, so it counts, and he clears a minor Status.
